Deborah Louise (Field) Gates, 69 of Dalhart passed away January 8, 2023. Debbie will lay in state from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 at Horizon Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 at 10:30 am at NewLife in Dalhart, TX. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Debbie was born June 17, 1953 in Dalhart, TX to Lewis and Frances Field. She attended and graduated Texline High School in Texline, TX. She enjoyed many years on their family farm with her parents and siblings. Debbie was a hard worker and do it yourself minded type person. Always helping her girls or showing them how to be strong women. Debbie was a homemaker and babysat until her girls went to school. She then began working for the Jurajda family (True Value & AtoZ) for many years. She began her child care adventure; keeping all her grand kids and other children that she loved as her own. Debbie and her parents worked many years at Caprock Feed lot, which gained them many friends for life! Debbie enjoyed the mountains, the town of Red River was her favorite, cooking out with family and friends, her short time of making shirts and decals, watching her grandkids play sports, and just enjoying life! She was always fixing things around the house or helping her girls at theirs. Unfortunately, she began battling dementia in 2019. She fought hard in this ugly disease. Her family is so proud of her! She is survived by her loving daughters: Carissa Martin (Sharon) of Amarillo, TX, Nikki (Drue) Smith, Brandy (Eddie) Blanco all of Dalhart. Her eight grandchildren: Cody (Erika) Martin of Christoval, TX, Coltan Martin of San Angelo, TX, Cameron Melendez of Amarillo, Christian Melendez of Lubbock, TX, Tatum, Tallie, Thadeus, and Tynlee Blanco of Dalhart, TX. Five great-grandchildren: Case, Gracelynn, Cohen, Rhenn, and Collyns. Brother Dennis (Vickie) Field of Friona, Ricky (Sherry) Robinson of Wichita Falls, TX, and a sweet Uncle she considered her brother, Richard (Donna) Trantham.
