David Saunders, 89 died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in Dalhart, Texas Services were held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 10, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery - Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. David was raised in Norman and graduated from Norman High School in 1933. He attended Oklahoma University. Davids Oil Industry career began early when he started working on drilling rigs. He married Elizabeth Marie Williams on April 21, 1951 in Carrizo Springs, Texas. They moved to a ranch near Hayden, NM and ranched until 1970, when they moved to Dalhart and opened Saunders Oil Company. David closed his oil company in 1980 and purchased the H&R Block tax office, which he sold in 1997. Mr. Saunders was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas.He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Saunders of Dalhart, TX son: James Patrick Pat and his wife Dianne Saunders of Indonesia Daughters: Cheryl & her husband Alfred Smith of Ponca City, OK Susie and her husband James Hale of Stratford, TX and Kelly Wood of Allen, TX eight grandchildren: Jennifer Sandstrom had her husband Todd, Melissa McIntire and her husband Bill , Ty Young, Sam Alderman and his wife Rhonda, Lori Mungia and her husband Daniel, Jessica Young, Heather Saunders and Chancey Saunders. 11 Great GrandchildrenPreceded in death by parents, and 1 son David L.
