Daphne Mae Austin, 86, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at her home in Dalhart, Texas.Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, with arrangements under the care of Horizon Funeral Home.Officiating was Kevin Phillips, Pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church.Daphne Mae Walkup, known to many as MeMe, was born July 9, 1926, in Clayton, NM, to Rual and Price Walkup.She married Raymond Austin on November 16, 1941 in Boise City, Oklahoma. They farmed in the Coldwater community for many years.Daphne worked at the HWB Grocery Wholesale until she retired. Her life was devoted to her grandkids and family. Up to the time of her passing, she still sewed on her treadle sewing machine.She was a pistol and loved to play cards, dominos and bingo. She had a special place in many peoples hearts. Daphne was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her son Kenneth, her parents, and four brothers.She is survived by her daughter Linda Clements and son-in-law Charles Clements of Dalhart, Texas. Four grandchildren: Kim McCracken( Randy), Gary Clements (Cindy), Jessica Austin (Moss), Jenetta Baxter (Kurt); and seven great grandchildren.Memorials to favorite charity
