It is with great sadness to announce Curtis Wayland Davis, age 78, of Dalhart TX, passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2022. He died peacefully within his home with his beloved wife Patty by his side. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00PM, Monday, January 31, 2022 at Church of the Nazarene with Rick Calvert officiating. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.
Curtis was born in Stratford TX on September 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Jesse Davis and Lena Mae Davis. Curtis served in the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War receiving the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Defense Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Counter Offensive Campaign Medal. Curtis Davis was honorably discharged from the US Army on April 7, 1967; obtaining the rank of Specialist.
Curtis was a devoted husband to his wife Patricia Davis, a father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and friend who lived a beautifully poetic life from start to end. Curtiss life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by him understand that his existence and the imprint he left within our hearts will last forever. Curtis was a strong patriarch of his family and a good friend to all. He was very devoted to his family and active within the lives of his Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Davis and Lena Mae Johnson Davis, his brother Milford Davis, nephew Chris Preston and Brother-in-laws Gerald Preston and Henry Harrison.
Curtis is survived by his sisters Jessie Mae Preston and Doreen Harrison, his beloved wife and best friend Patricia Davis, the loving father of Shelly Stone and wife Melissa Thrash, and Kim Baker, the proud Grandfather to Samantha Merideth, Sidonia Alo and husband Daniel Alo, Halee Stone and John Hitsos, Tiffany Aiken and husband Alex Aiken, and Ty Baker and wife Hallie Baker, beloved Great-Grandchildren Spencer Merideth, Braxton Aiken, Ryker Aiken, Jolee Baker, Molly Baker, and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and many good friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
