Cristobal Chris Romero, 62, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Dumas, TXPrayer Vigil was held at 7:00 pm Friday, August 19, 2011 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas Funeral Mass was held at 11:30 am Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas with Father Scott L. Raef, Pastor officiating. Burial will be held in Roy, NM at a Later Date.Cristobal Romero was born May 19, 1949 in Roy, New Mexico to Moises and Isabelle (Arguello) Romero. Raised in Roy, Chris was a Track Star for the Roy Longhorns. On July 29, 1967 he married Carmen Marquez in Dalhart and they made their home in Guymon for over 20 years. Chris was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Cursillista. Mr. Romero worked at the Swift Plant in Guymon for over 20 years before moving to Branson, CO in 1989. He had a love for animals especially horses, and was well known for raising and training English Pointers and German Short Hair retrievers. Chris and his dogs competed in National Shoot and Retrieve field trials where he and his dogs won awards and national recognition. Survivors include his Son: Christopher and his wife Carolyn Romero of Amarillo, TX and a Daughter Sandra Schneider and her husband David of Dalhart, TX. 4 grandchildren Andrea Hacker, Chantel Romero, Quentin Romero, & Weslee Schneider and 1 great grandchild Ezmerelda Hacker. His sisters: Catalina Olivo of Stratford, TX, Viola Abeyta of Stratford, TX and Lorene Montoya of Dalhart, TX and his brothers: Tony Romero of Guymon, OK and J.D. Leal of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Pete Romero, Moises Romero and Rudy Romero. Memorials may be made to St. Anthonys Building Fund - 411 Texas Blvd. Dalhart, TX 79022
