Cleo Coffey, 80, died on Monday, April 7, 2008 in Arlington, TXGraveside Services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 11, 2008 at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Dalhart, TX, under the direction of Horizon Funeral HomeOfficiating was Mr. Bill Hunter Dalhart, TexasCleo Coffey was born September 29, 1927 in Ruff, Oklahoma to Cleo Sr. and Gladys (Nordean) Coffey. Cleo lived in Dalhart for 28 years (1960-1988). He graduated form Pampa High School in 1946, attended Baylor University in 1947 where he met Jane Mathis, they married on September 13, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He moved to Dalhart in 1960 to become the Administrator for Coon Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home. Cleo was the first administrator to run the nursing home as it was just being built when he took the position. He was one of the first licensed nursing home administrators for the State of Texas. He built and owned motels and other rental properties in Dalhart, Spearman, Borger, and Duncan, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. While in Dalhart he was a member of the Rotary Club and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Dalhart. Cleo and Jane were married for 60 years. Cleo was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and you never knew what he would say next. Cleo was always quick to state that Dalhart, Texas had the greatest people in the world! Survivors include his wife Jane Coffey of Arlington, TX 2 Sons - Dan Coffey and his wife Vickie of Denton, TX and their daughters: Amanda and Callie - Bob Coffey and his wife Mary Lee of Rowlett, TX and their daughters: Susan and Mallory - A Daughter Amy Coffey-Ervin and her husband Shane of Arlington, TX 4 grandchildrenPreceded in death by his parents
