Clara May Melius, died Wednesday, February 25, 2016 in Hartley, TX. at Loreta on the PlainsServices were held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church in Dalhart with Sean Vickers, Pastor Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln St. Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.Clara May Stinson was born to James and Ruah May Stinson in Red Lake, NM on April 6, 1916. Her family moved to Glen Rio, NM and she attended school there. Clara met Jim Melius and they were married in San Jon, NM on December 5, 1932. They moved to Amarillo, TX where Jim was employed with the Texas Highway Dept. Clara and Jim then moved to Dalhart, TX on March 1, 1943, when Jim was transferred with the Texas Highway Dept. Clara stayed home and raised her children.After raising her children, Claras work career began. Her first job was cooking with her daughter, Laverne at the Dalhart Country Club, Clara then went to work for Coon Memorial Hospital in the hospital cafeteria. She later went to work for the Dalhart Public Schools, cooking in the school cafeteria, where she retired after 10 years of service. Clara finally retired at the age of 71. She continued to live in Dalhart and enjoy her children and grandchildren. She was very active in her Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church.She is survived by her sons: James and his wife Aliene Melius of Dalhart, TX, Kenneth and his wife Sue Melius of Magnolia, TX and Roy Lee and his wife Rhonda Melius of Cumming, GA. 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.She is preceded by her Husband, Parents, Son: Jesse Melius , daughter: Laverne Moore, and a granddaughter Christy Ann as well as three brothers and two sisters.
