Walter Charles Baker Age: 75 Died: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Dalhart, Texas Services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2011 at First Christian Church with Barry Walker, Pastor officiating burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home Dalhart, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Dalhart, TX, daughter, Ranell and her husband Kevin Ansley of Amarillo, TX, a son, Randy and his wife Debi Hunt of Dalhart, TX, grandson, Cade Chism and two step-granddaughters Kelsey and Kennedy Ansley. Sisters, Margie Williams of Amarillo and Freida Byram and her husband Les of Amarillo, TX and a special sister-in-law Carolyn Bolllman of Milton, IL and numerous Nieces and Nephews.Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Charley was born December 23, 1935 to Walter and Mabel (Murray) Baker in Hartley, TX.
He attended school and graduated from Hartley High School in 1954. He served in the US Army in Stuttgart, Germany. Later, he attended Texas Tech University. He then worked for Rock Island, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroads. After 38 years of service he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Hartley. He had a love for sports, especially the Dalhart Wolves, Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed working with cattle and horses. He loved his family.
Charley married Virginia Goldman on June 16, 1963 in Milton, IL
