Charles H. RED Davis died Saturday, December 12, 2015 in Dalhart, Texas. Services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Liberty Baptist Church, Dalhart, Texas.Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home. Charles H. Davis, Jr. was born August 6, 1928 in Dalhart, TX to Charles and Grace (Chittenden) Davis. He graduated from high school in 1945 and after serving in the US Army, Red married Lelia Zane Gray on May 12, 1949. Charles worked for the Railroad for over 30years, from clerk, to ice dock, to brakeman, then conductor.His passion was service in the name of the LORD, he founded Dalhart Rescue Mission in 1958, and was its superintendent for many years. He spent the last 25 years in the prison ministry and in 2004 he was recognized by Gov. Rick Perry for his years of volunteer service. Red was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Lelia Zane Davis of Dalhart, TX, two daughters: Sara Kapera of Kansas City, MO and Susan LaRocco of Mount Ephraim, NJ, and a son Phillip S. Davis of Lubbock, TX . 3 grandsons: Stephen LaRocco of Greenville, SC, David and Daniel LaRocco of Mount Ephraim, NJ as well as great grandsons: Samuel LaRocco of Greenville, SC and Benjamin LaRocco of Greenville, SC.
