Charlene Courtney Burkhalter, 77, of Dalhart, TX, died Tuesday, May 06, 2014 in Pampa, Texas.Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Dalhart at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. Burial will be at Manitou Cemetery, Manitou, Oklahoma on Saturday May 10, 2014 arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home.Officiating will be Alan Burkhalter, Pastor Chaparral Hills Baptist Church, Amarillo, TXEdna Charlene Courtney was born August 27, 1936 in Manitou, OK to Claud and Addie (Morton) Courtney. Raised in Manitou, Charlene married Eddie Burkhalter on August 27, 1952 in Vernon, TX. They lived in Manitou, Tipton and Vernon before moving to Dalhart in 1966. Charlene had managed the Travelers Inn for years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. An Avid bridge player, she also enjoyed being with her family and friends. Charlene is survived by her husband, Eddie Burkhalter of Dalhart, TX, 2 daughters: Vicki Gale Stone of Dalhart, TX and Karen Ruth Thomas of Frederick, OK, 1 son: Steven Forest Burkhalter of Canyon, TX.2 sisters: Maxine Rose of Tipton, OK and Pauline Cook of Yukon, OK and 1 brother Claud Eugene Courtney of Oklahoma City, OK. 4 grandchildren: Brandy Stout of Frederick, OK, Britney Marsel of Cache, OK, Derek Burkhalter of Austin, TX and Kaleesi Raye Burkhalter of Canyon, TX and 2 Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
