Cecil Ingram, 90, died Friday, August 12, 2016 in Dalhart, Texas. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 18th, 2016 at 10:00 am in the First Christian Church with Barry Walker Retired Minister officiating. Burial did follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Cecil Ingram was born August 27, 1925 in Bainbridge, Georgia to Remus F and Bertha (Poston) Ingram. Cecil was raised in Bainbridge, GA and graduated from high school there. After graduating from high school Cecil joined the Navy and served for 2 years. Cecil had wanted to fly since he was 8 years old. His love for flying was evident even as a youngster; when he learned he was going to have a baby brother he said his parents should name him "Lindberg" after the famous aviator Charles Lindberg. Cecil joined the Navy in the V-12 program thinking he was going to learn to fly, but found out the V-12 program had been discontinued. After his service in the navy Cecil went to the Spartan School of Aeronautics to get his flight training. Cecil obtained several licenses including, Pilot's license and Mechanics license. He was studying airport management when he found out about a job in Dalhart, Texas seeking someone with flight instructor and mechanic qualifications. He came to Dalhart for an interview not having any idea where Dalhart was. Cecil came with tow sacks in one was his clothes and the other a few tools that he owned. In 1948 he took the job in Dalhart and on July 13, 1948 he married his lovely wife Pearl Shea. The next 68 years were spent calling Dalhart home. For 62 years they operated Ingram flying service - providing a variety of services such as crop spraying, flight instruction, charter and air taxi, designated pilot examiner for the FAA, aircraft maintenance inspector, aircraft sales, ground school instruction and fixed base operator. Cecil is survived by his wife Pearl, one son Don, by two brothers: Herbert Ingram of Inverness, FL and John Ingram of Triangle, VA and by two sisters: Doris Pyle of Anderson, IN and Jean Connell of The Villages, FL.
