Carolyn Jane (Swearingen) Rice, 74, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Carolyn was born to Dorothy (Thoms) and Lyle Swearingen in Clinton, Illinois on Thursday, May 2, 1946. Carolyn married Billy Gene Rice on December 6, 1968 in Boise City, Oklahoma. They relocated to Dalhart to raise their family. She enjoyed dancing with Bill until his passing in 2003 and spending time with her family. She is now happily reunited with Bill and her two sons. Carolyn is survived by two sons: Jon Jones and wife Karole of Jefferson City, Missouri and Ricky Rice and wife Stephanie of Dalhart, Texas, two stepchildren: Rochelle Rice and wife Lisa Phelan of Dallas, Texas and Mike Rice and wife Yang Mi of Dalhart, Texas, 21 grandchildren: Bonnie, Jessica, Mandy, Tara, Jacky, Sasha, Sara, John Jr., Jamey, Kourtnay, April, Molly, Wesley, Chasity, Jason, Severiana, Lee and wife Stevie, Devin and wife Alexandria, Amy and husband Josh, Merten and wife Cassie and Bobby, 23 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene Rice, two sons: Rodney and Rusty Rice and her parents, Lyle and Dorothy Swearingen.
