Carol Williams Hendrix, age 68, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Amarillo, TXA celebration of the life of Carol W. Hendrix was held at the LaRita Theatre in Dalhart, on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Officiating was Kevin Caddell. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery - Horizon Funeral Home Carol Ann Williams was delivered to her parents Eula and Ennis Williams, on September 26, 1939 in San Angelo, Texas.In 1946 the family moved to Dalhart and when Carol was a freshman they moved to Donna, TX where she was graduated from Donna High School. Carol attended and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatrical Arts and English from Corpus Christi University. Upon graduation she taught speech, drama and English in the Kermit Independent School District for 2 years. She then moved to Dumas where she taught English, Speech, Drama, World History and PE.Carol and Gene Hendrix were married on August 19, 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart - Gene and Carol Williams embarked on the adventure of a lifetime.Carol coached area students for UIL contests and directed church plays before she opened the Prism Shop in November 1970. The Prism Shop opened with Genes carvings, Carols dried flower arrangements, varied craft items and colored glassware. In a few years it was a place to purchase many prestigious lines. Carol owned and operated the store for 30 years. In 1981 the Dalhart Community Theatre now the La Rita Performing Arts Theatre - asked Carol to direct a play for them. This was the first of many to follow including the XIT Trilogy and You Cant Take It with You that played for the entire summer. She served on the Board of Directors for many years. Carol is survived by her Aunt Mary and Uncle Fred Baker and Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill Bailey Cousins: Robert and Micki Boyle, Brenda and Mike Morris, Patty and Mike Crews, Willie and Candy Baker, Sallie and Bill Harris, Debbie and Jeff Jackson, Judy Jacklich, John and Kathy Bailey, and Willliam Bailey Numerous Second Cousins and her Brother in law and his wife Edwin and Virginia HendrixGene Hendrix died December 13, 2006 She is also preceded in death by her parents -Memorials may be made to LaRita Performing Arts Theater, PO Box 466, Dalhart, TX 79022.
