Brenda Barker, 81 of Dalhart, passed away on July 19, 2022. A Funeral Service is set for 2:00PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at First Christian Church with Pastor Barry Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Barker will lay in state from noon until 6:00PM on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Brenda was born on December 19, 1940 in Dalhart, TX. She graduated from Dalhart High School. She married the love of her life, William Worden "Word" Barker on April 13, 1971 in Dalhart. They were happily married until his passing on October 8, 2010. Brenda worked several places and eventually open her own business, Brendas Dress Shop. She was a people person and if she didnt know who you were, she would make sure and find out. Brenda loved people and people loved her. At First Christian Church, where she attended all her life, she was the "unofficial" door greeter and even in her later years, Brenda remained full of energy. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her mother: Claudia Fae Bonner; and her husband: Word Barker. Brenda is survived by one brother: Billy B. Bonner and wife Suzanne of Coppell, TX; one cousin: John Keller of Albuquerque, NM and three sister in laws.
