Billy Valdez, 72 of Dalhart, passed away on April 17, 2023. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:00PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Lawrence John celebrating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30PM on Friday at the church directly before mass. Mr. Valdez will lay in state from 8:00AM until noon on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Billy was born on May 23, 1950 to Joe and Facunda Valdez in Dalhart, TX. After high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Army and proudly fought in the Vietnam Conflict, receiving The Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal. After serving, he returned home and on August 21, 1981, he married the love of his life, Teresa Adams. Billy worked for the City of Dalhart until his retirement and in his spare time enjoyed being outdoors fishing, camping, and playing dominoes. As a quite past time, Billy liked drawing, coloring, and reading western novels. He also enjoyed playing bingo and dancing. Billy was a member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Facunda Valdez; brothers: Victor, Raymond, and Rudy Valdez; and several nieces. Billy is survived by his wife: Teresa of the home; children: Jeremy Valdez of Dalhart, Tiffany Thompson of Dalhart, and Russell Adams of Amarillo; brothers: Joe and Christopher Valdez; sisters: Delia Mireles, Margaret Moreno, Cecilia Gomez, Barbara Soto, and Benita Zapata; 4 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
