Billy Moore, 83, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 in Amarillo, TX.Services were held at 10 am on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Central United Methodist Church with Steve Patterson Pastor of the Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.Horizon Funeral Home - Dalhart, Texas.Billy Garvin Moore was born April 21, 1925, in Dalhart, Texas, to Cyrus Corley and Annie Elizabeth Lewis Moore. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1943 and joined the US Marine Corp in September of 1943. He served until 1946 with tours in China and the Philippines. He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman in Dallam County. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge-Commander Knights Temple. Billy served on the Board of Directors of the Dallam County Farm Bureau, Dalhart Consumers, Farm Service Agency, and Dallam County Commissioners Court. He served as the Veterans Service Officer while in retirement.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Earleen; son David and his wife Vickie of Dalhart; and his daughter Beth and her husband Dale Locke of Royal Palm Beach, FL. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Ben Moore of Wichita Falls; Matt Moore of Lubbock; Molly Moore of Dalhart; and Haley and Shelly Locke of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Billy is survived by one brother, David Moore, of Salt Lake City and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the United Methodists Church building fund.
