Billy Gene Lamb, 95, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Dalhart Texas. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Billy Lamb was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on October 11, 1925, the eldest son of Newton Clark and Anna Pearl Lamb. When he was a young boy, his family moved to Rocky Ford, Colorado, where Billy went to school until the age of 16. Then his family moved to Clayton, New Mexico where he attended High School until May 9, 1943, when he joined the Navy as a 17year old. He served for three years during World War II; then he came back home to Clayton, where he met his future wife, Lois Lawrence. They were married on October 31, 1948, and he continued his life working as a cowboy on various ranches in that area. In 1950, their first child, Mary Catherine (Biggen) was born and two years later their second daughter followed, Marjorie Ann (Marty). Many moves and four years later, their first son, Clinton Dale (Bubba), was born, and 18 months after that, their youngest son, William Ray (Little Billy), came along. Billy continued working on ranches and in feedlots, until their final move to Dalhart, Texas in 1973. He roped, rode horses, and worked as a cowboy until his early 80s. He was a very funny story-teller, was very blunt and to the point about what he thought! Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother, his son (Clinton) and his wife (Lois). His survivors are his two daughters, Mary Barker of Dalhart, Marty and her husband, Thomas Heglin, of Gate, Oklahoma, and his son, Billy and wife, Tina Lamb of Haskell, Texas, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
