Billy Joe Gross died on September 08, 2020 in Amarillo, TX. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Spiritual Life Center in Dalhart, TX. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Billy was born Saturday, December 28, 1940 in Mount Vernon, TX to Tom Gross and Cone (Brookes) Gross. Billy married Patricia Figueres in Spearman, TX on January 4, 1965. He loved his family and was a very hard worker who did everything he could to support his family. He liked to cut up and joke around. He enjoyed going junking, fishing and camping. He was a ditch digger from 1975 until retirement in 2006, before that he hauled hay, he also drove a cement truck. Billy would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need and he always gave his grandkids and great-grandkids clever little nicknames. When Billy was 16, he got his brother to sign a permission slip for him to go to the oil field behind mamas back. He was a wild one in his younger days, but he always worked hard and loved his family even harder. Billy is survived by his wife Patricia Gross of Amarillo, TX, a daughter Holly Ellis and husband Todd of Amarillo, TX, four grandchildren, Randy Todd and wife Ashley of Boys Ranch, TX, Mandy Todd of Dalhart, TX, Ashley Garvey and husband Joseph of Dalhart, TX and Allison Marquez of Dalhart, TX, nine great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Evelyn Kirkwood and Joy Higgins, three brothers; Alton, Roy and Tommy Gross, two sisters-in-law, Cletus Gross and Juanita Gross, two brothers-in-law; Chas Buford Higgins and Doyle Kirkwood, as well as, several nephews and one niece.
