William “Bill” Earl Redman

May 3, 1951 – February 27, 2026

William Earl Redman, known to most as Bill and to his family as “Grandpa,” passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Helper, Utah, at the age of 74.

Bill was born on May 3, 1951, in Dalhart, Texas, to Caroll “Uncle Buck” Redman and Dorothy “Aunt Jean” McClendon Redman. He grew up in Dalhart, where he spent most of his life surrounded by the people and places that meant the most to him. Bill was a hardworking man who believed in earning an honest living and taking care of the people he loved.

In 1973, Bill met Christine, the woman who would become the love of his life. Their story started with a little adventure when Bill famously rode his motorcycle to bring her home to meet her parents. They married in 1974 and welcomed their first daughter, Terri Lynn, on October 31 of that same year. Their second daughter, Samantha Lea, was born on February 27, 1979. Although Bill and Christine later divorced in 1984, she remained an important part of his life until her tragic passing in 1986. Bill never remarried.

Bill spent much of his life working with his hands, something he took great pride in. Early in his career he worked for Harold Hoge, later becoming a mechanic for Chevrolet in Dalhart. In May of 1988, Bill began working at XIT Feeders, where he worked in maintenance and helped run feed rollers. He remained there for nearly four decades, dedicating himself to the job until March of 2025, when declining health finally forced him to step away after a long and courageous battle.

Outside of work, Bill loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family. More than anything, he cherished his role as Grandpa. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, tell stories, or share a laugh.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Terri (Brent) Buchanan of Helper, Utah, and Samantha (Andrew) Porter of Dalhart, Texas; his grandchildren Shawn, Christine, Courtney, Tori, Angel, Jennifer, Chelsie, and Christopher Jr.; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroll “Uncle Buck” Redman and Dorothy “Aunt Jean” Redman.

Bill will be laid to rest in Dalhart, Texas, the town he always called home. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
