Betty Joyce Prater,84, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Dalhart, TX Services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2013 at First Christian Church, Dalhart, Texas. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX Betty Joyce Kizziar was born September 25, 1928 in Spearman, TX to Carl and Alma (Morris) Kizziar. Betty grew up in Spearman and on September 4, 1946 she married Ivy Clay Prater.She and Ivy worked on ranches in Stratford and the Buzzard Ranch for 23 years. They moved to Dalhart in 1978. After moving to Dalhart, Betty worked for Mothers Day Out for several years and for Dalhart Saddlery. She also helped raise several nieces, nephews and other children. She loved her family and was a member of the First Christian Church.Survivors include her Sons: Ronny and his wife Jan Prater of Dalhart, TX, Roger and his wife Cheryl Prater of Dalhart, TX, Her daughter: Sandy Gordon and Robert Spielman of Dalhart, TX, Nine grandchildren, Thirteen Great grandchildren.Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson Selik Mariscal.
