Betty McWhirter, 74 - died on Sunday, December 24, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas. A Memorial Service has been rescheduled (due to a weather related power failure services were not held on Saturday as planned) for 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3rd at Hartley Baptist Church.Officiating: Rev. Roy Almaroad Betty Lou Craig was born August 10, 1932 in Memphis, TX to Bill and Allie (Watts) Craig. Betty was raised in Clarendon, TX. She married Donald G. McWhirter on January 19, 1953 in Paducah, TX. After Mr. McWhirter finished his service in the U.S. Navy they moved to Dalhart and in 1974 they moved to Hartley. Betty worked for Dalhart Consumers for almost 20yrs. A member of the Hartley Baptist Church, she was an EMT and volunteered with the Hartley EMS. Friends and family will remember Betty as a woman who enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and sewing. She loved her friends and family and was always willing to offer a helping hand when needed. She is survived by her husband Don McWhirter of Hartley, TX Two Sons: Bobby & his wife Diane Thomas of Dalhart, TX Donny and his wife Renee McWhirter of Dalhart, TX One daughter: Cynthia Miller of Dalhart, TX Four grand-daughters: Sherri Thomas of Amarillo, TX Jamie and her husband Clint Bell of Amarillo, TX Kasey and her husband Brian Ruppanner of Dalhart, TX and Kelsey Blevins of Amarillo, TX - 2 grandsons: Kris and his wife Michele Williamson of DeMotte, IN, and Andrew Miller and his Fianc Jackie Walsh of Islip, NY Eight Great-grandchildren Tanner, Braiden, Angel, Halle, Joshua, Alex, Zach, and Nathaniel Preceded in death by her father and mother.Memorials: Hartley EMS Box 32, Hartley, TX 79044
