Betty Hayes, 83, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Dalhart, TexasGraveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Dalhart, TX, under the direction of Horizon Funeral HomeOfficiating will be her Son-In-Law: Burton McIlroy, Pastor The Edge, Texarkana, TX. Betty French was born February 7, 1928 in Pratt, KS to Leo and Bessie (Branson) French. She was raised in Pratt and Dalhart. Betty married Wayne Hayes on December 15, 1944, Wayne died in 2007. Betty was an ombudsman for Coon Memorial Hospital and a member of the Peoples Church. She returned to school after her children were raised and got her degree in art from West Texas A&M University. Betty painted and taught art for many years and was especially fond of teaching art to children. She is survived by her 2 daughters: Marijo & her husband Ken Hatch of Amarillo, TX and Sherri and her husband Burton McIlroy of Texarkana, TX. 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
