Betty Jean Chisholm, 68 of Dalhart, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Betty was born to Betty Lou Clark Chisholm on Tuesday, September 1, 1953 in Boulder, CO. Betty graduated from Boulder High. Betty moved to Dalhart in the early 90s. She worked for numerous companies over the years. Betty went to work for TDCJ in 2007. She worked her way up to Sergeant in the laundry and food service department. While employed with TDCJ she was the recipient of the Texans that Care for Texans award. She retired in 2020 after 13 years. In 1995 Betty joined the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department. During her years of service she received her Firefighter 1 certification and held the position of department President for many years. She also served on the Hartley EMS team for several years. Betty was kind, caring and brutally honest, you never had to wonder where you stood with Betty. She was as tough as they came and she proved it, she fought cancer five rounds and came out on the other side every time! Her tired body is now at peace and out of pain. Betty is survived by her common law husband of 18 years Tim Miller of Dalhart, his sons: Elijah Hull, Jonah Miller and Noah Miller, her daughter Barbie Attaway and her daughters Raven and Stevie and their families, honorary son James Moody and wife Taunya and their children: David and Thomas Hart, Alton Moody, Kimberly Martinez and husband Procopia Martinez and Taran Chavez, her siblings: Johnny Chisholm and wife Janell, Mike Chisholm and Susan Chisholm, her close friends Josie Lysford, Curtis and Denisa Brown, her fire family and the many others who loved her.
