Beth Tharp Howard, 90, passed away, Saturday, August 28, 2020 in Amarillo, TX.
Funeral services to celebrate her life were held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Central United Methodist Church, burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas.
Beth Tharp was born September 17, 1929 in Clovis, New Mexico to N.L. and Nettie (Maddox) Tharp. She was raised in Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School in 1947.
After high school she began working for Aldridge Law Firm in Farwell, Texas. While working at the law firm she started her courtship with Walter "Dub" Howard, who she later married on December 29, 1953. Dub and Beth were partners in everything they did including farming together in the Texico/Farwell area until 2011 when they relocated to Dalhart. Beth enjoyed reading, accounting, cooking for her family, and traveling the world with Dub. She was a glowing example of love, faith and integrity to all those around her. She was an active and faithful member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served the church in many capacities including financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, and organist, for many years. After their move to Dalhart, she and Dub attended Central UMC where they quickly began enjoying their new church family.
Beth is survived by her two sons: Mark Howard and wife Robin of Dalhart, Texas and Greg Howard and wife Roberta of Dalhart, Texas; granddaughter: Melissa Howard of Houston, Texas; and grandsons: Brett Howard and wife Morgan of Dalhart, Texas and Bryce Howard and wife Kalley of Dalhart, Texas and Mason Howard of Okinawa, Japan; great grandchildren: John Henry Howard, William Dane Howard, and Sloan Ross Howard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Cathy Wiese and her husband Ralph of Milton-Freewater, Oregon.
Beth is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and her husband of 62 years.
