Bernard "Bub" Eads, 85, died friday night, February 15, 2008 in Dalhart, Texas.Services wewe held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Texline United Methodist Church, Texline, Texas. Dr. John Wade, Pastor, officiated Burial followed in the Texline Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. For the Convenience of the Texline Community Bernard Eads will be in state starting at 11:00 am Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Texline.Bernard Dub Eads was born on February 12, 1923 in Corlena, Texas to Frank and Lottie(Muse) Eads. The Eads family moved to Texline from Corlena and that is where Bernard made his home. He served his country in WWII as a marine aboard the aircraft carrier Salerno Bay. On February 3rd, 1950 he married Carol Lindsey in Clayton, NM. Bernards legacy of service to Texline includes helping to build the local bank and the Powell apartments, years spent as City Manager, Volunteer Fireman, County Commissioner, West Texas County Commissioner President, active membership in the Texline United Methodist Church, the Triangle Masonic Lodge, and Lions Club as well as service to his family and friends. A Cattleman, Rancher and Farmer he was also a member of the Ropin Club and had a special respect for the land. Survivors include his sons: - Ray and his wife Sherri Eads of Texline, TX Walt and his wife Terrie Eads of Denver City, TX a daughter: Kathy Eads Smith and her husband Brad of Texline, TX Twin Sister Bernice and her husband John Higgins of Limon, CO a brother: Bill Eads and his wife Ecolene of Clayton, NM - 9 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren - Preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, sisters Mae Eads and Ione Caddell as well as a brother B.F. Eads, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to:Texline Fire and Rescue Box 144 Texline, TX - Lions International or a favorite charity
