Bennie Vernon Bargas, 92, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Dalhart, Texas.Rosary was Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Horizon Funeral Home.Funeral Mass was Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas.Officiating: Father Scott L Raef, Pastor of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Dalhart, TX.Bennie Vernon Bargas was born to Fred and Juanita (Marcus) Bargas March 11, 1918 in Channing, Texas. He lived and worked in the Dalhart Channing area until joining the United States Army in 1942. Bennie received an honorable discharge in 1944 and later worked for Rock Island Railroad until retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola and son Benny Jr; his second wife, Doris; two brothers; & three sisters.Mr. Bargas is survived by a daughter Rosalie Bargas of Pensacola, Florida, two grandsons, David and Dallas Bargas; an adopted daughter, Catherine Fernandez and many nieces and nephews.Memorial may be made to American Cancer Society or to the building fund of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Dalhart.www.horizonfuneral.com
