Avis Joan Sonnicksen, 73, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her home in Dalhart, Texas. Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Officiating - Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor - St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas.Avis Joan Faiferlick was born June 28, 1943 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Richard & Grace (McMahon) Faiferlick. Avis graduated from St. Edmond High in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. A Devout Catholic, Avis was a member and past officer of the St. Anthonys Alter Society. She was also a member of the Rehm Home Extension Club and belonged to Dalhart area- Fine Arts Association. Avis enjoyed painting pictures of her children, grandchildren, and buildings, especially houses. She loved writing to and hearing from her children every month.Avis was also a co-leader of a M.S. Teleconference group.Avis is survived by her 4 children- Martin Sonnicksen of Amarillo, Texas, Rachel Gerald of Onalaska, Texas, David Sonnicksen and his wife, Carol of Shidler, OK and Natalie Winkler and her husband, Tracy of Duncombe, Iowa. She is also survived by 3 brothers- Dale Faiferlick of Dayton, Iowa, Mark Faiferlick of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Lyle Faiferlick and his wife, Nancy of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and a sister, Fern Clabaugh of Jewel, Iowa. As well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
