Armilda "Millie" Ruth Stephens, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Dalhart, TX. A strong and courageous woman, who fell in love with a young army man named Ira Austin Stephens, they married on February 1, 1944. He moved her from the lush green beauty of the Mississippi River area of Missouri to the panhandle of Texas. It was a stark difference in area but she made it their home. When asked how she ever adjusted, all she said was it was easy, she loved her husband. Millie was a strong faithful follower of Christ and always was an example to her family. She was stern and strict with her family but loved just as fiercely and made no excuses. She lived her faith and expected her family to do so too. She was honest, hardworking and trustworthy, the best friend anyone could ask for. She was gifted and talented in so many areas. She had a beautiful voice, could draw and paint and could sew and crochet anything. She could do any number of crafts and could make the most wonderful food. God blessed her with many talents and gifts and she thanked Him for them and used each one for His Glory. Even as her vision failed, and she was completely blind these last many years, she never complained about it and always made the best of it. Amazing! Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Lincoln Street Baptist Church with Rusty Hancock, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Armilda Ruth Sublette was born February 8, 1921 in Palmyra, Missouri to Ben and Bessie (Englehart) Sublette.
