Antonio (Tony) Tito Romero, 75, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Services were held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas on Saturday, December 26, 2020 with rosary at 9:45 a.m. and mass at 10:00 a.m. with burial that followed in Memorial Park Cemetery. Tony was born to Isabel Arguello and Moises Romero in Yates, New Mexico. Tony married Susan Arguello, December 28, 1964. They moved to Guymon in February of 1970, there they raised their four children, Anthony, Deana, Mike and Leslie. They were married for 55 years. Over the 55 years of marriage, they took care of each other through sickness and health. Although difficult at times they never gave up on each other. Their love transcended all obstacles. When they first moved to Guymon Tony worked at the Swift Packing Plant, then CRI Feeders as a front-end loader operator and then Hitch 1 as a cowboy until he retired. He loved working at Hitch 1 and riding his mule Molly who was very smart, she opened gates with her mouth and kept him from falling while getting up and down from her by pushing him against the fence. His passion was being a cowboy and taking care of cattle at the Romero Ranch. You would need to pack a gun just in case, for snakes, mountain lions, or even the occasional bear. The Romero Ranch has been in the family for well over 140 years. It is more than a ranch it is the Romero legacy. Tony loved to travel with Susan and their family and other relatives to Taos, Red River and Angel Fire, New Mexico in the summer. They loved to go dancing together whether it was a country and western concert or Spanish band playing, they would be there dancing all night long. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who he adored and loved. He was the best Papo, he loved to spoil them. They made him smile and grin with what they would get away with around him. Tony is survived by his children: Son, Anthony Romero and his children, Marcus Romero and Monica Ford, daughter, Deana Andr and husband Mike and their two daughters, Jordan and Mica Andr, son, Mike Romero and his sons, Garrett Franklin and Nicholas Romero, daughter, Leslie Gooding and husband Todd and their children: Patience Epperley, Ta, Zane, Mason and Tori Gooding and adopted daughter, Yadira Ortiz and husband Robert and their sons: Damian, Andy and Dominic Ortiz, 10 great grandchildren, Rudy Romero, sister, Viola Abeyta, brother, JD Leal and wife Maggie, sister in law, Becky Romero and many nieces and nephews.
