IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Vasquez
March 11, 1957 – December 25, 2023
Ann Vasquez completed her earthly journey on December 25, 2023, in Amarillo, TX, at the age of 66. Born on March 11, 1957, in Dalhart, TX, to Joe and Dorothy Murray, Ann's life was a testament to her caring and thoughtful nature, which enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Ann married the love of her life, Oscar Vasquez, Sr., on January 31, 1976. Theirs was a bond built on mutual respect, shared laughter, and an unspoken understanding that transcended words. Together, they created a home full of warmth, where family always came first, and the door was forever open to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. Ann's role as a wife and "Mama" was her greatest source of pride, and her love extended to the joyous embraces of her grandkids.
In the kitchen, Ann was unbeatable – the undisputed "Master of the grilled cheese, tuna sandwiches, sugar cookies, and sweet tea." Her culinary talents were the highlight of many family gatherings, her recipes a treasured legacy that nourished body and soul alike. Ann's laughter was a common sound amidst the clatter of pots and pans, creating a symphony of homely comforts that echoed through the hearts of her family.
Ann cherished the simple pleasures in life, like playing board games, embarking on spontaneous trips to the store, and enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains. Her love for her baby goats and grand-dogs spoke volumes of her capacity for love, extending even to the smallest of creatures. "Go," a name she called herself, was indeed fitting Ann, who was always ready for the next adventure, whether it led to the store or to the mountain trails.
Ann's daughter, Tiffany Vasquez, and granddaughters, Desaray Vasquez, Anastasia Vasquez and Cazelynne Turner, along with great-granddaughter Parker Vasquez remain to carry on her legacy of love and kindness. Her son, Oscar Vasquez, Jr., his wife Jennifer, and grandsons Austin Vasquez and wife Avery, and Gavin Vasquez remember her as the cornerstone of their lives. Sisters Penny Romero and husband Jerry, Jody Salas, and brother-in-law Charles Stuart, along with her many nieces and nephews, will miss the light of her presence but will continue to be guided by the values she instilled.
Ann now joins her late parents, Joe and Dorothy Murray, sisters Dorothy Frazier and Linda Miller, and beloved family who have passed before her, including nephews Billy and Curtis Brown, and niece Angela Brown, in eternal peace.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A Funeral Service honoring Ann will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Central Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating. The interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to fellowship with them from 6-8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.
As Ann's family navigates this time of loss, they find solace in memories that shine like beacons in the night. Ann Vasquez's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the depth of a loving heart. As she embarks on her next journey, those she leaves behind will remember her fondly and follow the example she set, making the world a better place, one act of love at a time.
