ALINE WHARTON GARNER NOLAN
Sunrise: January 1, 1933 Sunset: August 06, 2020
It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Aline Wharton Garner Nolan, 87, on August 06, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. She was at home to be near family and loved ones. Aline will lay in state for viewing at Horizon Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Due to concern for the health and wellness of their family and friends during this time the family will share a Celebration of Life Video online at a later date.
Aline Lefern Wharton was born on January 1, 1933 in Dalhart, TX to Leroy and Theadosia Almedia Grace (Collins) Wharton. Aline was the second New Years baby born in Dallam County that year, which was a milestone within itself. Although, she was not the only contender; she had no choice but to share the spotlight and keep her eyes on the prize.
Aline attended school in the little two room schoolhouse at Bunker Hill through the seventh grade and then Sedan, New Mexico for the eighth grade. She graduated from the Boarding Academy at Southwestern Junior College in Keene, TX in 1951. She also attended college there. She returned to Amarillo and attended Draughons Business College. Aline was a lifetime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as treasurer for many years.
Aline Wharton married Raymond Garner in 1952. They were blessed with three children: son, Kyle, and twin daughters, Kayline and Fayrine. They lived in the Bunker Hill community and the children attended school in Texline. Aline was involved in helping where she could and served as president of the local PTA. She was also a member of the Bunker Hill Home Demonstration Club and helped with the Interstate Fair. Feeling that talented people should be able to compete, she started the first talent contest at the fair. Aline owned an interest in the Texline Commercial Cattle Feed Yard, one of the first feed yards in the Panhandle. After they closed, she went to work for Texline Grain and the Nyco Bonding Company where she was in charge of warehouse receipts. In 1977 Aline and her daughters moved to a ranch just outside of Tucumcari, New Mexico.
In 1979 Aline married Gilford Nolan. He died in 1998. Aline lived in Tucumcari for 26 years before she sold the ranch and moved back to Dalhart to care for her mother and look after her farming and ranching interest in this area. Her hobbies included trout fishing and knitting. In April 2017, she had a home built in Amarillo with special accommodations for her disabilities and to be near her doctors.
Aline is survived by: her son, Kyle of Boise, ID, her twin daughters, Kayline and Fayrine, both of Amarillo, two stepdaughters: Melinda Clements of Dublin, TX and LaVonda Miller of Somerset, TX, 4 grandchildren: Robin Anderson, Jessica Garner, Brandon Garner, and Michelle Benavidez-Gipson, 3 step-grandchildren: Ben Clements, Brandi Clements and Coy Miller, 4 great grandchildren: sister-in-law: Betty Wharton and 4 nieces. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Gilford Nolan, her parents: Roy and Grace Wharton and brother: Troy Wharton.
For some moments in life there are no words. . . The song has ended but the dance goes on. . . We will always cherish the memories that time does not erase. The Sun has set on an amazing life well lived. Aline, you will truly be missed by all.
Donations to be made to donors choice.
