Aliene Fern "Heller" Melius, 82, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Dalhart, Texas. Aliene Fern Heller was born Saturday, October 24, 1936 to Albert and Shirley "Reynolds" Heller in Arlington, Kansas. Aliene was the beloved wife of James Melius, the love of her life for more than 66 years. Theirs was an unshakable bond grounded in their love and commitment to God and for each other. They never came or went without a kiss. She was the much loved mother of Sherry Smalts, Lynnetta Melius, Allyn(Annette)Melius, and Andy (Angela)Melius. She was the very proud grandmother to 12 blessed grandchildren and 18 wonderful great grandchildren that were all the light of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a wonderful legacy of faith and love for Jesus that she was never ashamed to share. She loved music and if you were around her for five minutes you probably heard her sing a song or lyric that came to her mind from something you said. Her beautiful tenor voice was striking and memorable. Her family cannot remember a day that she didnt have a song on her lips. She believed in the power of prayer and was faithful to lift up the needs of friends and loved ones. She was grateful for Gods blessings in her life and always reminded us all to count our own. She had a style all her own and loved bright colors, big jewelry, perfume, makeup and had the most beautiful silver hair often used to describe her. Her smile was quick and welcoming. We know she will be waiting to welcome us into Heaven. She just got to step into the arms of Jesus a little ahead of us. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. Her siblings Shirley Thompson of Dalhart, Texas and Larry Heller of Fairfield, Iowa and by her extended family. She was preceded by her parents and two brothers, Albert Heller, Jr. and Aldon Heller. We celebrated her life Wednesday, September 11, 2019 with a 10:00 a.m. burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas and funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at People's Church in Dalhart, Texas.
