Alfred Knot Fletcher, a life-long resident of Hartley, TX, died peacefully in his home on the same farm he was born on, surrounded by family on May 15, 2021, at the age of 89. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Hartley First Baptist Church. Chaplain Wilhelm will officiate. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Joshua Lowe, Jared Lowe; and grandsons-in-law: Patrick Yarbrough, Colton Barton, Matthew Poirier, Kirk Laminack, and Kendrick Guel. After which, Alfred Knot Fletcher was buried in the Hartley Cemetery. Knot was born in Hartley, TX, on the family farm on December 8, 1931, to Ralph and Lou Ella Fletcher, the youngest of their six children. He was raised in Hartley and graduated from Hartley ISD. Knot served in the Army during the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, the UN Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the Army, he met and married the love of his life, Betty Jo Mitchell of Dalhart. They married on July 17, 1959 and had three children. Knot loved to dance and danced well into his late 80s. Playing dominoes was another favorite pastime of his, especially playing 42 with his grandkids. Nothing he enjoyed more than being around family, where he would share stories and his knowledge from being an avid reader. Knot enjoyed talking to people. He will be deeply missed by his family. Knot is survived by his wife, Betty Fletcher; his children: Danett and husband Cary Lowe, Jimbo Fletcher and wife Kimberly Fletcher, and Dona Williams and husband Troy Williams; 7 grandchildren: Tasha Yarbrough, Kendra Barton, Mekala Poirier, Kristen Laminack, Joshua Lowe, Jared Lowe, Jori Guel; and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Flowers or in memoriam donations can be sent to Cal Farleys Boys Ranch.
