Aldo Bettelli age 84 Died, Friday March 23, 2007 in Dalhart, Texas. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 9th at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery On Friday , March 23, retired paratrooper Lt. Col. Aldo Bettelli made his last jump, the first combat jump being made on D-day into Normandy with the 82nd Airborne Division in 1944. His passing occurred after a prolonged struggle with Parkinsons Disease.Bettelli, a first generation American was born October 17, 1922 in Tollerberg, Colorado to Pietro and Teresa Bettelli who came to America from Italy via Ellis Island in 1914. A career army officer, he enlisted in 1942 and fought in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retired in 1969. He continued his service with the Department of Defense as a civilian until 1992. He and Hela Becker of Saarbruecken were married in Bamberg, Germany July 25, 1949.The deceased is survived by his wife, Hela, his daughters Sylvia Renick of Dalhart, TX and Clivia Baskin of Bedford, TX: grandchildren, Keir Renick, Margeaux and Tai Baskin: Siblings Iris Solina of California, Lilly Gallina of Italy, Miriam Junta and George Bettelli of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Elso Bettelli , sister Nida Cornella, and granddaughter Maya Baskin.Memorials may be made to the XIT Museum in Dalhart, TX
