In Loving Memory of Philip Edward Ondracek

August 9, 1956 – April 6, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Philip Edward Ondracek, who entered eternal rest on April 6, 2025, at the age of 68 in his lifelong hometown of Dalhart, Texas.

Philip was born on August 9, 1956, to Francis Edward Ondracek and Mary Josephine (French) Ondracek. He was raised in a family rooted in faith, dedication, and a strong connection to the Dalhart community. He is now reunited with his parents and his beloved sister, Nancy (Gray) Desbiens, all of whom preceded him in death.

A cornerstone of Philip’s life was his commitment to the family business, Dalhart Bowl, which was established by his parents in the early 1940s. The bowling alley remained under the care and ownership of the Ondracek family until Philip’s retirement in 2018: testament to decades of service, tradition, and dedication. Philip was not only the face of the bowling alley but also an accomplished bowler himself. His love for the sport was apparent to all who watched him play or shared a game with him.

Beyond the lanes, Philip was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He found great joy in camping, hunting, fishing, and never turned down the chance for a game of foosball.

Philip was also a man of strong faith, remaining a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. His spiritual life was a quiet but powerful presence in the way he lived it with integrity, kindness, and humility.

He is survived by his niece, Kathrin Sprouse, and his nephew, J.R. Gray, who held a special place in his heart. Though his immediate family was small, Philip’s circle of love and influence was wide. His gentle spirit, hearty laugh, and generous nature made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday, April 19, 2025, beginning at 7:30 p.m.at Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

The family will receive friends beginning at 7:30pm until 9:00pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Philip’s life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with a Rosary being recited beforehand at 9:30am Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart.
