Mary Phyllis Przilas joined the Lord and her beloved Husband Melvin on July 25th. She was known lovingly by many as Phyllis Przilas. A story she would often share about her name is that if she had heard that name prior to marrying Melvin, she would have to rethink her answer in marrying him. This was one of the many ways our mother shared her personality and humor with everyone she met.
While our dad was constantly helping others outwardly, mom was the unsung hero of the family and community. She constantly opened her home and life to those around her. Weddings, hosting hunters for every season, family reunions, barn dances, calf fries, and fish fry cook outs are some of the events seen out at the Przilas barn.
She loved many things especially traveling with her two daughters, golfing, wood working with her dear brother John, dancing, playing dominos, reading books, taking care of her garden, playing piano and spending time with her family.
Mom was an advocate for many things that were close to her heart such as protecting the unborn by supporting pro life efforts, giving back to those in need by donating to charities, and being active in her community with Oktoberfest in Dalhart, XIT and creating a legendary Bloody Mary Mix for the guys in the bean barn.
She was a God-fearing woman who lived her life in the footsteps of Christ. Mom has left us with memories, laughs, and of course endless daily tasks that we will continue to do as she is watching from above.
As the head of our five generations, she dedicated her life to raising strong, independent, selfless, and moralistic children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Mom fearlessly and unapologetically held the position as matriarch of our family, leaving behind a legacy we can only hope to fill in her absence.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Therese Anne Jones, her brother, Gerald Beckman, as well as her children Colette Przilas- Stork, Sandra Wise, Douglas Przilas, and David Przilas. She had eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Przilas. She will be joining her brothers, parents, best friend and many other loving relatives.
We will forever be grateful for everything she taught us. We love you mom! We miss you G-Ma!
