Mary Phyllis Przilas, lovingly known as Phyllis, joined the Lord and her beloved husband on July 25th at the age of 82.
Born in Amarillo, Texas, Phyllis was the youngest of five children and was raised in Umbarger. In 1962, she married the love of her life, Melvin Przilas, and together they eventually made their home in Dalhart, Texas, where they spent the rest of their lives.
Phyllis was the quiet cornerstone of both her family and community, a true silent hero. Her home was always open, serving as the warm backdrop for countless weddings, barn dances, calf fry cookouts, family reunions, and a welcome resting place for visiting hunters.
She was a woman of many passions, including traveling with her two daughters, golfing, woodworking alongside her dear brother John, dancing, playing dominoes, reading, gardening, playing the piano, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Phyllis was a God-fearing woman who lived faithfully and humbly in the footsteps of Christ, leaving a lasting example of grace and devotion to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister Terese Ann Jones, her brother Gerald Beckman, and her four children: Colette Przilas-Stork, Sandra Wise, Douglas Przilas, and David Przilas. Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Przilas.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Lawrence John celebrating.
