Madge Riherd

Madge Helen Riherd, born on January 14, 1932, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, September 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Tx. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. She was a cherished member of her community, known for her warmth and compassion. A dedicated professional, Madge worked for the late Jimmy Pigman before serving as the Office Manager for Nortex Feedlot, where she continued to contribute her talents until her well-deserved retirement.

Madge will be remembered fondly for her generous spirit and her love for children. She had a special delight in keeping sweet treats on hand in both her home and office, ensuring that any child who crossed her path felt spoiled and cherished. Madge had a natural affinity for storytelling and relished hearing tales of children's antics and mischief, often bringing smiles and laughter to those around her.

Cooking was one of Madge's great passions, with bread-making standing out as her specialty. She infused joy into every loaf she created, sharing her culinary delights with family and friends. Additionally, she had a keen interest in watching football on television and staying informed on national, state, and local news, always eager to engage in conversation about the world around her.

In her earlier years, Madge was a devoted member of the Dalhart Church of the Nazarene, where she made significant contributions, including teaching Children's Sunday School Classes. Her commitment to nurturing the next generation was evident in her dedication to both her faith and her community.

Madge is survived by her beloved stepdaughter, Judy Bagley, and her husband, Michael; her step-grandson, John Riherd; and her cousins, Linda Crow, Jim Chancey, and Sheila Yee and her husband, Tim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Walter "Bud" Riherd; her nephew, Don Jackson; her father, Fred Brown; her mother, Madge (Glisson) Brown; as well as her maternal grandparents, John and Pearl Glisson.

Madge Helen Riherd leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hospitality, and love, truly making the world a better place. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
