Gary Usher, 88 of Dalhart, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Dalhart Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Gary will lie in state from noon until 6:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home in Dalhart. Immediately following, the family will receive friends until 8:00pm that night . Gary’s Final Resting Place will be in Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt, NE. Arrangements in Humboldt are entrusted to Wherry Mortuary. Local arrangemens are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Gary was born in Humbolt, Nebraska on November 10, 1936, to Otis and Delpha Usher. Gary was a man of many passions and a devoted family man, who will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. Throughout his life, Gary embraced the joys of ranching and found great fulfillment in being outdoors. His interests extended to collecting coins, which showcased his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Above all, Gary treasured the moments spent with his family, nurturing deep connections and creating lasting memories.

He is survived by his beloved children, Mark, Rex, Jayden Crang, and Reagan and Freya Bass. Gary’s legacy is further enriched by the love of his two brothers, Jim and Dean Usher, and his sister, Sharon Whitney. He was also a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and a great-grandfather to twenty-four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Delpha Usher, his brother, Don and his son, Russ. He also joins his loving grandparents, John and Addie Usher, and Willard and Laura Oneff, in eternal rest.
