LaVerne Simmons, whose journey of life began on November 16, 1933, in Quanah, TX, has left us on June 28, 2024, in Dalhart, TX. She was the epitome of love and brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
LaVerne had a passion for various activities that brought her immense happiness throughout her life. From bird watching to crocheting, fishing to spending quality time with loved ones on the porch, she found solace and delight in the simple moments shared with family and friends. Her creative spirit shone bright through her drawings and her love for motorcycle riding added an adventurous flair to her character. LaVerne adored yorkies and cherished every moment spent in their company.
She was a cherished member of several organizations including the Christian Motorcycle Organization, West Point Parent Forum, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Organization, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart. Her presence touched many lives within these communities where she dedicated her time and heart.
LaVerne leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be treasured by those who knew her. She is survived by her loving children: Lela Turner, GC Richards and wife Jean; siblings: Sandra Robinson and husband Michael and Rama Harris; grandchildren: David Turner and wife Alicia, Stephanie Donegan with her husband Ruben and their 5 children and her great-great grandson: Malikai, and Corbin Richards and wife Amy; along with a host of other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister: LaVelle Brautigum; George Richards; Claude Simmons; Dale Hoover; and son in law: Bill Turner.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate LaVerne's remarkable life will be held on July 3, 2024, at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Chapel in Boys Ranch Ave, TX. The service will begin at 1:00 PM as we gather to pay our respects to a beloved mother, grandmother, sibling, friend, and community member.
As we bid farewell to LaVerne Simmons, let us hold onto the memories we shared with her - the laughter shared, the stories told, and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she was cherished beyond measure.
Rest well dear LaVerne; your light continues to shine brightly in our hearts.
