Diana Lynne Metcalf, 79 of Dalhart went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 as she was surrounded by family here she was immediately greeted by more family in Heaven. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 o' clock in the morning on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Central Methodist Church with Pastor Ryan Strebeck officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o' clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Diana Lynne Metcalf, born to Henry and Florence Druce on November 16, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1962 and pursue her studies in Chemistry and Biology at the University of Chattanooga, graduating in 1967. Diana began her career as a Medical Technologist with the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia, where she met her beloved husband, Keith Metcalf. They married on March 18, 1972, at First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga and started their life together in Dalhart, Texas, where they raised their four children: Kerry, Jill, Barry, and Lauren.
Diana was a devoted wife and mother who cherished every moment with her children. She attended all their events, special days, and hobbies, often coaching and leading their activities. Her dedication extended to the Dalhart community, where she volunteered for numerous organizations, including Coon Memorial Nursing Home, Women's Contemporary Study Club, Little Dribblers Basketball, HOSTS Reading Program, Project Graduation, and Girl Scouts of America.
For over 52 years, Diana was a proud member of Central Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She served in various roles, including teaching both youth and adult Sunday school, vacation Bible school, greeting, youth group retreats, Kings Kids, and cooking for Sunday dinners, breakfasts, funerals, and youth activities. Diana was a gifted seamstress, fashion designer, and quilter. She embraced every design challenge from her daughters and consistently exceeded their expectations, creating beautiful garments for special occasions, weddings, and proms. She also delighted in crafting quilts and embroidery designs for her grandchildren.
Diana found joy in flower gardening, raising fish in her pond, and caring for her Sheltie dogs. She spent her days walking her dogs around Rita Blanca Lake, tending to her pond, and nurturing her beautiful flower gardens, which brought pleasure to all who visited her back porch. Her front porch gardens were equally admired by passersby. Diana was also an avid sports fan, particularly of Lady Raiders Basketball and TCU football.
Diana is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Keith Metcalf; her children Kerry Ringgold and husband John of Joshua, Jill Woods and husband Andrew of University Park, Barry Metcalf and wife Danna of Fort Worth, and Lauren Waggoner and husband Justin of Dalhart; her grandchildren: Garrett Ringgold and wife Tiffany, and great-granddaughter
Emersyn, Holly Ringgold, Grant Waggoner, Ross Waggoner, Kate Metcalf, Ellie Woods, and Maddie Woods; her sisters: Carole Bailey and husband William of Chattanooga, and Barbara Barry and husband Ed of Marietta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Central Methodist Church, PO Box 160, Dalhart, Tx, 79022.
