Cindy Mayfield Austin passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.  She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the deep care she showed to everyone around her. Cindy was born to Sammy Arthur Putts and Gerrie Marie Kincade Putts on July 18, 1953, in Memphis Texas. A funeral service will be held in her honor, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at Newlife with Pastor Terry Stegall officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Services are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Cindy took great pride in retiring from Dallam-Hartley County as a dispatcher where she had served her community for several years!

Cindy is survived by her husband, Henry Austin of Dalhart, three step daughters Letha & Tony Black of Amarillo, Diedra & Chandler Luke of Amarillo, and Wendy Austin of Dalhart, two nieces and several nephews, her brother, Sam Putts II of Dalhart, her Beautiful Macaw, Ollie of Sallisaw, OK, her son, Scott Mayfield and his wife Kara of Sallisaw, OK, her daughter, Katrina Peterson of Amarillo. Her nieces, Tonya Ferguson and husband Keith of Lawton, OK, and Maxey Couture and her husband Justin of Amarillo.  As well as several great nieces and nephews from both of their families.

She shared a lifetime of friendship and laughter with her dearest friends, Kelly and Barbara, whose love and support made them more like sisters than just friends.

She was a proud grandmother to Billy Peterson of Iowa, Tracy & Natalie Winkler of Iowa, Kallie of Iowa, Sorenson of Iowa, Corbin & Arelli Byrd of Amarillo, Addie Jayne and Kenlea Jameson both of Dalhart, Kristen Jefferson and her husband Derrick of Amarillo, J.D. Peterson of Lawton, OK, Cole Mayfield of Edmond, OK, Cash Mayfield of Sallisaw, OK, and Kamryn Mayfield of Sallisaw, OK.

Cindy also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Aryannah, Braxton, Cooper, Colter, Scarlet, and Nash.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Gerrie Putts; her sister, Paula; and her dear friend, Deena Parker.

Her legacy of compassion, resilience, and love lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in her memory.
