Beatrice Ritter

Beatrice Ritter, 77, of Dalhart, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Dalhart. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025, at Dalhart Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Ty Hancock officiating. Services and cremation are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Beatrice was born on November 6, 1947, in Sumter, South Carolina to Ed and Mae (Brownlee) Gallegos. She traveled with family all over, even stationed in Africa while her father was in the services. Bea also lived in Austin, TX, Tucumcari, NM, and finally ending up in Dalhart where she met Anthony (Tony) Sr. and they were married on January 7, 1967. Together they had seven children.

Beatrice worked in housekeeping for several motels as well as in many restaurants here in Dalhart. She was a great cook! Her two favorite pastimes included going to the casino and playing bingo. She loved being outside with her flowers and doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed relaxing inside watching her favorite shows, Days of Our Lives, and Little House on the Prairie. Most importantly Beatrice loved her family and keeping up with what everyone was up to.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ritter Sr.; two daughters, Patsy and Sherry Ritter; grandson, Dusty Ritter; parents, Ed and Mae Gallegos; brother, Frank Gallegos.

Beatrice is survived by her five children, Anthony H. Ritter Jr. and wife Barbara, Robert E. Ritter, Sheila R. Sprague and husband Lloyd, Phillip A. Ritter and wife Rosie, Sandra M. Kerr and husband Jeremy; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Gallegos.
